Dental Implants

Dental implants are a popular treatment option for replacing missing teeth.

They are small titanium posts that are surgically placed into the jawbone to serve as a replacement for the roots of missing teeth. Once the implant is in place, it is allowed to heal and fuse with the jawbone, a process called osseointegration. After healing, a dental prosthetic, such as a crown, bridge or denture, is placed on top of the implant to replace the missing tooth or teeth.

Dental implants offer many advantages over other tooth replacement options, such as bridges or dentures. Implants look and function like natural teeth, they are permanent and stable, they do not require the support of adjacent teeth, they help preserve the jawbone, and they can last a lifetime with proper care and maintenance.

Dental implant treatment typically requires several steps and can take a few months to complete. The process starts with a consultation with a dental professional to determine if implants are a good treatment option, the next step is the surgical placement of the implant, then the healing period, and finally the placement of the dental prosthetic.

It is also important to keep in mind that good oral hygiene and regular check-ups with the dental team are crucial for the success and longevity of the implant.
